Bettman Rigs Game Tells Refs..Make Sure Hurricanes Play Half the Game Shorthanded

When asked about it Bettman (NHL commissioner) said ” We can’t have some team from… what is it North Carolina sweeping one of the staples of NHL Hockey like the Devils” Wow. “I was just doing what I was told” said one Ref.

Brodeur apparently not only whined like a little baby to the media after getting stomped on by the Hurricanes in the first 3 games, apparently he put some pressure on NHL managment. It sure worked for baby marty.
Well based on the number of penalties called on the Hurricanes He got his point accross. Link to the boxscore Take a look at Period 2… wow it can be pretty difficult to play when you are down a man almost half the game. I know there were some legit calls but I saw more than a few questionable ones, there was one point where it was 7 in a row against Carolina… OK. I know there is some strategy to calling penalties but that is riduclous….
Now I have to go to a game on Mother’s Day and watch the Hurricanes Take the Series at home which is great but.. since the Canes Management Jacked up the prices so much for round 3 and 4. It could be my last game this year. Bittersweet.

Go Canes!

Oh and just in case you didn’t figure it out the 1st part is fiction. :)

Super Staal Scores With 3 Seconds Left to Force Overtime: Canes WIN!!!

What a game… The entire crowd chanting Goal GOAL GOAL GOAL GOAL at the end was awesome. New jersey thought they had it won with that silly lucky almost high stick goal with 20 seconds left. Sorry Devils. Did you forget that you were playing the Carolina Hurricanes ? Kings of Overtime. The team that does not quit. Here are a few good links to great articles.
I managed to have a good time at that incredible game despite my continued dissappointment with the price gouging of season ticket holders for the next rounds of Playoffs. If anyone has any extras for the next 2 rounds Let me know. :)
Now for some fun: In appreciation of the effort last night I put together a little video… its not great but hey its just for fun. Enjoy. It does take a little bit to load. Be Patient.

Carolina Hurricanes Owners to Fans: Bend Over….

The Sign on the Ice at the RBC Center says ” Thanks you Fans” maybe it should say something else now…..It looks as if they are thanking us by Jacking up the Prices 250%…

Is that how any business “thanks” its customers?

Business owners out there do you “thank” your best customers by increasing their prices 250%? by Jacking up the prices of your most loyal customers 2.5 times what they are used to paying? I doubt you would have many customers… well that is exactly what the Carolina Hurricanes management has done…

I have to admit I came home friday to find my “bill” for the potential 3rd and 4th round of the playoffs, and I was pretty upset. I felt betrayed, let down by the team that I have been supporting heavily since they moved to this area… I had season tix and Greensboro, and rode the bus and drove to those games,…I had season tix in raleigh every year but 1 ( company had tickets then) and bought a pack the other year and playoff tix this year.. and now this is the way they repay my continued support … support through a year of striking… I am not happy and I know I am not alone.

Let me layout the situation.

1 and 2 round tickets. Upper Level Corners… Almost the Cheapest in the arena. $400 for the first 2 rounds. Not bad.

Now I knew the price would go up but wow….

3r and 4th round price for same tickets… $1,050.00

Anyone that knows me knows I love this team but this increase will probably force me to watch the games on TV and maybe if I am lucky scalp a game or 2.

I know that fans that have tickets in the lower level are feeling it even worse..

I read all the commentary and as expected the Management pulled out the “our prices are competitive with other markets” excuse….

Translation: ” We want the fans of other teams in those seats because they will pay those prices”

This comes right on the heels of an interview with Peter Karmonos talking about how the teams is going to be profitable… how about rewarding the loyal fans Peter instead of XXXXing us like this.

Devils Fans Bash their Own Team in Beating: Carolina Hurricanes 6 Devils 0

The Hurricanes played almost perfect … the Devils looked like a minor league team out there.

NHL.com Said it best ” New Jersey never had a chance in this one. ” It wasn’t even close. Up in the Cheap seats where I sit, There were a few travelers from Jersey that made the long trip down here. They were pretty loud in the beginning of the game… it was very amusing to see watch them as the game went on go from cheering to sitting their in silence. Even in the first 5 minutes it was clear Carolina was dominating the game.

The dissappointment they had when the lil devils had 3 straight powerplays and I mean 1 right after the other and could not score was classic. At one point I even heard their fans saying how bad their team (the devils ) suck. It went from “lets go devils ” to ” we suck” Nice.

IT was a great day.

Playoff Podcast Send Off For Montreal

Montreal really played a tough series, They showed why they sold out every game this year, there were 3 overtime games this series. I have respect for the Canadiens.
However I am a fan of Carolina Hurricanes… so

Deja Vu Carolina Hurricanes Defeat Montreal Set to Play New Jersey In Round 2

I won’t go on and on about how this is exactly what I said would happen. Montreal woke the sleeping tiger and got mauled. Carolina, even without Cole, is back to the mid season form and the “safe is death” “whatever it takes ” mentality. They will not be beaten.

3 (ok more)Stars

  1. Cam Ward- Amazing Play in Goal
  2. Rod Brind’Amour-The leader led by example and at times took the team on his shoulders and skated
  3. Stillman- game and series winner
  4. Staal Overtime winner and lead off goal .. not to mention 6 asissts in the series
  5. Justin Williams-Demon Williams what a great pickup from Phily
  6. Recchi
  7. Weight
  8. Cullen
  9. Commodore
  10. The Entire Team Really everyone is playing exceptional.. too many contributions to list .. The Carolina Hurricanes Stanley Cup Coming soon.

Canadiens Sent Home Down 2 to 3 in Playoff Series.

2 to 1 victory for the Canes, Cam ward: Amazing. Great early Goal by Staal to start it up in the first and Cullen had almost the exact goal from almost the same spot to make 2… The Hurricanes were playing like the team that won 9 in a row earlier in the season.. Playing like a Team that Knows it is destined to win the Stanley Cup This year.

Canes Crash the Nets and Crush Canadiens

Look for another podcast later tonight, but for now that was a great victory and as I mentioned in my podcast. The Hurricanes won. Huet played great but couldn’t stand up to the Williams, Ward, Brindy Shots.

Cam Ward, keep it up nice to see a 22 year old come in and play like a Vet… He is looking like did early in the regular season, What a great time to show that skill.

How about Eric Staal Double shifting in the first period… seemed like he was out on the ice as much as Brind’Amour.

Montreal is playing tough but this Hurricanes Team is much much better than even than the team that went to the Finals in 2002… As i Have been saying since October.

The Stanley Cup is on it’s way to North Carolina.
